AWOL RP Update 2

Quick Outline
• Character system
• More food
• Skills (a point per minute to spend on a skill)
- • Cooking
- • Medic
- • Scientist
- • Technician
• 4 Jobs (each has its own special way of obtaining)
- • Civilian (start as this, der!)
- • Police Force (send an application)
- • Traders League (get some one to sign you up)
- • Rebels (undercover)
• Fists! (finally)
• Custom weapon menu.
• New computer menu.
• New items
- • Personal Teleporter

Police Force

You send an email application via your PC to the police station.
This may be accepted or rejected by "Police" or higher.
Overseer can only be appointed by me.

Becoming a trader is just as simple as clicking 2 buttons.
"Imports" all appliances. (Stoves, Labs, etc)

I think you should Make a Bigger Banner that was scrolling text on it. Something maybe as big as a 2x1 Phx plate. or maybe like the Banner in the Combine lobby of C18

I like the Applicatin system. but then i requireds someone of each rank to be on at all times. i think the police recruit should be a server vote system. and then higher up ranks have to be applyed for.

And i think the lowest Trader rank should just be join able. same with the rebel. then after that they have to apply to get higher rank.

Just means that if there is only 3 people on ther server then they can still play.

You can now become a Trader anytime with a click of a button.
Rebel, no.
Trader is the only necessary job. So the others will need a high rank to join.

Criminal and Thug don't sound like an organised rebellion, more like a crime syndicate or Mafia. Rename pl0x

If your occupation is permanent, that makes it pretty easy for people to remember "hey, JohnDoe89 is a rebel, I should keep an eye on him!"

Make it so when you spawn (and every time you re-spawn), you have to put in a new name for people to see you as (keep the scoreboard name the same if you want). This should help re-inforce the NLR as well.

well i might be wrong. But im pretty sure that there should actualy be rebel members in the rebels. not just a leader and petty theifs. just because they are rebels doesnt mean they are criminals

And can we please change map from rp_downtown.

If you have a problem with the names, think of new ones.
If you have a problem with the map, find a better one. (evocity is out)

Yeah the only good thing about evocity is that it's big, and i don't think anyone would be willing to upload it to the server either.

And I don't have a problem with the names, I never said I did. I just said maybe we can only show rp names, rather than steam names...

Also, any chance that there could be vehicles in the gamemode?
Obviously you'd make it so you can't run people over, but it'd definitely make larger maps more viable/interesting, and would help alleviate the feeling of not having any room to breathe I got every time I played the original AWOLRP (or any RP I've ever played, really).

You could set up an NPC to sell them (I've seen stuff like this done in fallout RP), and when you disconnect from the server it saves what vehicle you own and you can return to the dealership next time you're on to get it again.

Hell, you could even start petrol stations if you wanted. And have races (for moneys)!

Out of curiosity, are you still being totally restrictive about guns (that they cost waaay too much)? Perhaps you could implement something like what I said for car saving with guns too, so that if some minge randomly kills you, you haven't just lost your $300 investment (return to the gunstore NPC and receive a new one).

Just some thoughts on ways to make things easier for people/new and interesting/fun(:P)

Before I add cars, I need a good map for the cars to be used on (again evocity is out).

I'm leaving guns out for know. I want to have it running good before I reimplement them.
Also I need to code my own to fix some glitches.

Added Personal Teleporter to front page.

Csdesert.... I don't really like the idea of cars, unless you want AWOLrp to turn into a mad max movie.
If you do put cars in making them $20000+ (or real car prices) would be a good diterrent for minges.
Anyway stop telling mech what to do, one of the main reasons he stopped awol rp before is because it was the only thing people talked to him about (not sucking up, I promise).

And actually, what's wrong with a Mad Max RP? Rouge Traders trading between towns, an undermainted law enforcement battling against a lawless world? Australian? Shantytowns?

Seems like it'd be an awesome setting to me.

And if cars were to be implemented (meaning the map would be rather large), I'd suggest that you automatically begin with a car, albeit a rather shit one (the HL2 jeep (with a little nerfing) for example). You can then buy new cars (better looking, better performance) for your "garage" (car inventory which can be accessed at any dealership) at dealerships. Perhaps give the cars health so they can be damaged somehow (guns when they're implemented, crashing into things, etc) and eventually break (but make them repairable for like $50 at the dealership).

If you were to go Madmax RP btw, I'd suggest a map like GM atomic or something. It's got a few shanty towns/huts and plenty of space for people to build their own (restrict their props so anything you build looks suitably scrappy).

Out of curiosity, why the hate on evocity? and has anybody checked out the evocity v2 which has just come onto garrysmod.org?

Actually it was people suggesting things at the wrong time.

I think that Sgt Sgt spends to much time on the eye candy and not enough on the actual design of the map. I couldn't find a single store on evocity2 where I thought would be a good place to set up shop.

AWOLRP is all in capitals. God damnit!

Oh yeah. Man I saw that shit, and I downloaded it, and then find out that its 300 megs big and lags like a motherfucker. No way I'm putting that on my server.

Mad max Rp... I like it... I REALLY LIKE IT. I was just thinking the other day, a lot of Serious rp's have failed in Australia and even then theres still a lot we will have to compete with, so why not make something completely different.

Yes, put a inventory, a simple one with only 6 or so slots with a backpack that adds 3, or a complicated one with weight and fallout 3 weighting walk speed things.

Well I was sorta hoping for some points on what needs to be changed/added to fit the style.
I'm downloading the movies, but some info and suggestions would still be good.

After rolling around being a melon for ages, I decided I wanted to make a "bug". A roaming remote-controlled spy device. Maybe able to inject poison.

What would the jobs be on a Mad Max RP?

What about no set "jobs" your just a person who can go about as they please, maybe set groups such as desert raiders or etc, but for the more abusable jobs (groups?) you will have to apply.
Here we go, mad max ideas so far:
Have rp names, with one person who can be Mel Gibson's character.
Getting a car would be like getting trusted, but getting it illegally would be a different story, if you don't lock up you lose it to minges.
Have small colonies.
Someone could make a simple, desert-like map, and admins/people could build there own colonies.
Like Mad Max have a vigilante police force.
Killing is allowed, but don't expect to be welcomed into society.
Like with Taco Script you will have to apply for the better positions, thus bringing more people to the forums.
Customizable cars?
Don't have to make many car models, just re-skin the jalopy and the buggy.
That's it so far, but if it goes ahead, dibs Beta-tester :D

That works. Perhaps have a few mainstream groups, police, a couple of raider groups, and then have another group, civilians. So you can be a police medic, police driver, that sorta thing. Or a civilian cook, merchant, gun dealer, ect.

I tried to do that before with classes, It didn't work well. So I changed it to stats.

More suggestions(because Mech can't remember anything i say on vent):

Remote explosives: Really expensive and great for destroying doors as well as removing that pesky evidence of any hacking computers.

When someone is arrested their weapon and pockets are spawned in the nexus/police station evidence room for later retrieval or used as evidence.

EDIT: Oh yeah ammo boxes as well

MORE EDIT: Being able to no collide props with the world

I was thinking to incorporate the rag doll mod, so when you fall from a high place yo turn into a rag doll, i think it would be cool, plus stop people from getting into annoying places.
