Introducing:
AWOL GAMES NIGHT
Introduction:
Once a week and every week we will have a predefined night in which we all get together and play a certain game, and not just IC-RP raids or TF2 epic rape matches of death, but every game, server or mod imaginable.
Every week will have 1 session of a chosen games, and every month a session or number of players will be nominated for the yearly awards.
For every session that we have a player of the week will be chosen. This player will then become the Director for next week, which obviously comes with certain privileges.
Basic Rules
The session generally has to be on a weekend day, and at a time that attempts to suit everyone, as with different time zones and commitments. The game, server or mod's will be organised into certain categories which I will define later, and these will obviously be subject to change. Every month a session or number of player will be nominated for the end of year awards, winning these awards will come with certain privileges.
No one person can be the director twice in one month, and if only one game is chosen for a week, that game cannot be repeated next week.
The director will be chosen democratically, whereas 5 players will be nominated the night or day after the session, then AWOL ONLY members will vote on who they think deserves it.
People not of AWOL are welcome, but AWOL members will be given priority to the session and non-AWOL members will be invited after, as with server limits and etc.
The director must give the framework for the sessions at least 4 days before the alotted date, this must include:
-Name of game/mod
-Name of server (if any)
-Time
-Day
-Mods or addons needed; if any; and a basic instruction on where/how to get them.
-Rules of the session (if any)
-Theme(s) of the session (if any)
If a player does not like a game, server or mod that is not in the green category, he can debate this action. Every player get's 1 debate vote a month, and if enough people debate the session, then the session needs to be changed or scrapped in order to comply.
The player of the week will be judged in areas such as skill, conduct, creativity, as well as bonus points to lulz had.
Director Privileges
The Director (player of the previous week) will be given the ability to:
-Choose the game(s) of the next session
-Choose the themes or rules of the next session
-Bragging rights!
-???
-Profit!
The game, server or mod will obviously have to apply with certain standards, as certain people do no have certain games etc etc etc.
Game, server or mod
I have arranged a variety of games (that I can think of) into predefined categories, where certain rules and standards will apply:
Green Green mods, games and servers are generally ones that everyone has, and are unable to be debated by other players:
-Garrysmod
-Team Fortress 2
-Counter-Strike Source
-Killing Floor
Yellow Yellow games, servers or mods are ones that quite a few people have, but not all people have. These can be debated if enough people do so, and cannot be included for two weeks in a row, unless agreed by all. These include:
-Left 4 Dead (1 or 2)
-DOD:Source
-COD (1,2,3,4,5,6)
-Sourcemods (there are too many to name, but these are usually quite easily downloaded)
-Bad company 2
-Dawn of War
-Half life 2: Deathmatch
-IC-RP (put this here because I no some (bithmar) are banned from, or cbf downloading everything that comes with it.
-DOTAAAAAAA
Red These are mods that may be hard to accommodate, or not had by many and require less votes to be changed. These cannot be used more than once a month, and cannot be the majority, if not all of the session. These include;
-Borderlands
-Saints Row 2
-Company of Heroes
-Half life 1 mods
These OBVIOUSLY don't cover every game that can be played, and may be subject to change in category.
End of year awards
These are awards that come with rewards given to players that demonstrate a variety of skills. Each person can be nominated more than once for each award, and for more than one award. Here are some suggestions for awards.
The Oskar
And the oskar goes to.... The greatest director of the year! This is the grand daddy, the award for director of the year and are chosen from the nominations for each month, of course this comes with many a reward, such as a choice of:
-Choice of theme for ventrilo end of year period.
-A server of your choice for any game or mod that Sylver agrees to of course. :p
-Choose the AWOL theme song!
As well as:
-A steam game reward valued at $(5,10,15,20)!
-A weekly award named after you, with prerequisites set by yourself!
-YEAR LONG BRAGGING RIGHTS!
-???
-Profit
The Sylver bullet
Given to best and fairest player of the year, who demonstrates good conduct, diplomacy or etc. Rewards:
-Second choice of reward not already chosen (of the Oskar rewards).
-Also year long bragging rights
-Being a really cool guy.
The Hypercube
A prestigious award given to the player who provides the best screenshot, video or artwork of previous sessions in the year, these can include compilation videos, comics, action shots, posters, etc, etc and etc.
Rewards:
-Third choice of awards
-Some profit, but not as much.
The Clan Clown
Given to the funniest, most lol inducing moment of the year, this can include screenshots, videos and console chat's from sessions only. Rewards:
-Shiny internet glasses.
But.. why?
Having an AWOL games night would have many advantages, it would be good to grow our community outwards instead of inwards, it would give more creative players the ability to show us their stuff, it would hopefully increase our member count, it would increase our exposure to a variety of communities and would also bring us closer together as a group :3.
End notes:
Of course I don't expect this to actually proceed, nore do I expect everyone the read the whole thing. I just thought that it would be good if we had a pre-set time where we all got together for at least once a week and play as a group, rather than seperately. All of this is Suggestive and a lot of it is spur of the moment rubbish.
Cheers, Spiffy.
